Seeing these beaches was great for us since we had a long beach day planned for the following day and we'd already seen several terrific options with hardly a soul in sight at either one. July 1 Volissos


Our host in Volissos called our two-story loft apartment Auntie's Tree House in its listing on Airbnb. Presumably that is because of its precarious position on a steep hillside and the fact that two or three incredibly stout wooden beams, from the building's original construction 700 years ago, figure prominently in the current design. There were a couple of brief missteps that were quickly corrected but still we found ourselves on a road that felt like we were bypassing the small town of Volissos inside which we were to meet our host. The deal was that we were to arrive at the square and meet the owner of our new home, Stella. The town of Volissos is pretty small so presuming we could find the square, locating Stella shouldn't be that hard. As we drove beyond the town, though, we wondered just how to get back and ...
