... the Ducal Palace (though why she needs alcohol when she is so high on art remains a mystery!) and then returned to the hotel to relax and freshen up before dinner.

Tomorrow we move on to Parma (famous for its cheese) by way of a four hour taxi, bus and train trip. The actual travel time is much less than this, but of course you have to allow for connections etc. Meanwhile, enjoy the blog and the photos ...

... Where?......never saw those......must have missed some rooms...... Checked the map....yes....missed 4 rooms on the 2nd floor!!!!!!

Not sure how it happened but Michael would be on his own for the afternoon while Joy toddled back up the hill, up the two flight of stairs and tried to find the rooms she had missed (another €8!!) ... a good menu of local dishes, and very reasonably priced: three courses, plus wine, dessert and coffee, came to 41.50, and could not have been faulted. We reckon on going back there tomorrow.

Speaking of which, that will be our last chance to visit the town's National Gallery, which has been closed for the holiday so far. Hopefully it will be open tomorrow, as it has several paintings by Joys boyfriends and it is in the beautiful and historic Ducal ...

The atmosphere was great...it was just like sitting down to eat at the family table, everyone dipping in and out of bowls of the same foods, all being served at the same time, and chatting and laughing. The staff had everything running like clockwork and were so friendly. ... sand, we though it might be a worthwhile cruise, however the promenade as so far back from the sea that it was not rewarding. We
stopped by the entrance to the fishing and leisure harbour for our first beer of the day. At least it was sunny.
