Unfortunately Red Square itself was full of scaffolding structures because as it turns out they are preparing for what appears to be something similar to the Edinburgh Tattoo, which will be on at the beginning of September. I bet that will be amazing shame we're too early.
... and it was nice to see a traditional Russian ballet while we were there even though it was not even Christmas yet. Unfortunately the concept of sitting in the seat you had on your ticket seemed to escape most of the audience near where we were, so there was lots of shuffling about for the first 15 mins as all the people sitting in the wrong seats had to move when the latecomers arrived, but after this settled down, the ballet was really good.
