Rua Pedro Fonseca Natal, State of Amazonas, Brazil
What a journey it took just to arrive here. San Francisco to Rio de Janiero connecting in Miami, our first alcoholic drinks are free. Flight attendant overheard my buddy Josh calling me honey jokingly, and assumes we were gay. How funny, but free drinks: 2 bottles of vodka for me and 1 bottle of Jack for Josh. We arrive in Rio to catch flight to...

Carolyn awoke this a.m. with a 2 degree fever and serious congestion. She has what she needs from the Dr. and, fortunately we have the day or so with no side trips until we get to Devils Island. There we go ashore by tender and follow a map to explore the island, which is our option to do or not.
About noon today we had a "Crossing the...
After finishing the adventure in Mamiraua we had to stay one night in Tefe before we took the fast boat to MAnaus.
The city was not special and nobody was in the street from 19...but we still had a look arround.
The next day a fast boat in the amazon took us to Manaus back.
Sorry for the title, but this is the best place I have ever been. This is not a normal amazon logde, this is a place which only allows few people per week. To reach this place we had to take a plane to Tefé (in the middle of the Amazon) and from there 1.30 h boat.
The natural reserve has still comunities and they still can do the activi...
We'd agreed the night before to get up at 4am to do some animal spotting and a different type of spear fishing, but it was a bit of a struggle after only a few hours fitful sleep! We stumbled down to the boat in the dark and half asleep and set off paddling. Ceciliano was a pro at spotting the fish asleep near the banks and managed to spear a co...

We witnessed a beautiful sunrise over the rainforest from the lake, then saw a number of different species of birds, including lots of hawks, kites and kingfishers, and also some pink dolphins in the lake. After returning to t...
Amazon River, State of Amazonas, Brazil djandersonA few thousand mossie bites and a close call with two Cobras and we came away unscathed from the Amazon having loved the experience. We met some great people, had luxury accommodation and ate like Amazonian gods all whilst enjoying the beautiful surroundings and seeing some interesting wildlife. Posada Uacari is a floating eco-lodge in the Mamir...
Mamiraua Reserve, State of Amazonas, Brazil gareth.alannaMamiraoa is an area of rainforest in the upper Amazon about the size of England. Water rises and falls by up to 15 meters between the dry and rainy seasons! We booked in advance to stay 4 days an eco-lodge there. The only flights now are with Trip (Rico, who also used to fly the routes regularly, have apparently had a problem with their plane .....
Tefe, State of Amazonas, Brazil aandlI have been dreaming of visiting the Amazon jungle for so long that it did not quite feel real when we booked our 4 day trip. We decided on a tour company that worked in the area of Juma lake as it is meant to be replete with wildlife. We decided on Iguana tours and got really lucky as our guide, Alan, was very knowledgeable on everything includ...
Juma Lake, State of Amazonas, Brazil kingsandemsWell, for a change, I just feel like blabbing a little about some random stuff that has been going on. I miss being able to gossip with my friends and since none of you actually know these people, I donīt really feel bad telling you all about them. Talking on the phone is like therapy for me and I havenīt had a phone conversation in four months,...
