Here we saw all the important buildings of Santiago, including the impressive cathedral and revamped former dictator's residence now a community centre and the hidden gem La Chascona, one home of Chile's Casanova Pulitzer prize-winning poet. The return walk took us through the trendy Lastarria district which offered quaint cobbled streets and great lunchtime food offers and the BEST ice cream in South America so far. ...

... the least pedestrian friendly city in the world; you need to make lots of detours to cross the roads. Hoeever it has a good subway system which sadly we didnt have time to check out. Apparently the system gets so crowded that are thinking of having separate carriages for men and women!

... had some Chilean Sea Bass and the South American staple, Papa Frites. Then it was off to the Mueso Historico Nacional located in the Plaza de Armas with displays of items from the colonial and republican days starting in the early 1500’s. Interesting but not a required visit I would say unless you have a genuine interest.
