    Juliet's balcony.

... so much bread! After a coffee, we walked to Juliet's home where we lined up for a photo touching her statue and breast- it is supposed to be good luck in love! And then capturing every angle of the balcony, love letters that line the entrance and love locks that cover the walls and trees. This is the one place I've wanted to visit for as long as I can remember and today I am finally here! It was a lot smaller than I pictures but perfectly magical all the same. It was fairly busy ...

... not the public ones which are yucky and you have to pay for. Lots of bicycles here too, but they are all locked up. This city is a contrast of ancient architecture, roads and statues to the ultra-modern stores and souvenir vendors.

Back to the bus and on to Milan. It’s much cooler here in Northern Italy, and unfortunately it’s begun to rain. When we stop for lunch a Perillo tour bus is parked on an angle causing Antonella to ...

We enjoy a late breakfast on our own in a lovely sunlit morning-room... as if we really were the lord and lady of the manor! The Villa is even more impressive in the morning light. After settling the bill (very reasonable) the Raven crunches off down the gravel drive and we're soon on the Verona ring road headed for the autostrada north. As luck would have it it's the end of a long weekend holiday in Germany and so the route to ...

Today we travelled from Moneglia to Bardolino, Lake Garda in northern Italy. We travelled through a 6 km one-way converted train tunnel to leave Moneglia. We missed the green light by 1 min and had to wait 20 mins before it was our turn!! It rained most of the 3.5 hours drive over fantastic autostrada's and it cost about €30 in tolls. We had such perfect weather over the last week we didn't mind ...

Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art thou Romeo?

... on our first train that took 3 1/2 hours and brought us to Verona, Italy. The train ride was the prettiest route I have been on. We pasted tons of mountains and vineyards, which were really breathtaking. When we arrived I really wanted to stay a few hours and walk around because this is the town where Romeo and Juliet took place, and the location of the "love letters to Juliet" wall. Even though I don't think Matt was interested in this at all, he was good sport about it and ...
