      ... coastline and the Galle Rd runs straight through it, parallel to the coast. The guesthouses and hotels scramble to be the closest to the water, and this development has led to the scouring of the beaches. Some areas are gorgeous but others are being retained by sandbags. It is all very similar to Mui ne in Vietnam although Mui ne did not suffer a tsunami.
