Today dawned bright and sunny, and relatively warm after the icy wind of the past two or three days, and it certainly made a huge difference to the appearance of the town. The sun sparkled on the wet cobblestone streets, and fairly bounced off the creamy brown brickwork of most of the buildings. ... Vinci (not clear what if one is not fairly fluent in Italian). Well, Joy rounded the corner of the doorway and started reading the exhibition screens showing the English translation to the Italian notes, which were all about this painting which had been discovered and which was now attributed to Leonardo, how it was found and what all the story was, who the portrait was about etc ..... Just to finish off the entry for last nights New Year dinner, we were going to translate the menu for you, but thought sod it, why should we do all the work? After all, we are the ones on holiday!
Suffice to say, there was pasta, soup, wild boar, sausage, pork, salad, bread, vegetables and amaretto ice cream, in any order you wish to put them. Plus two wines coffee and water....

... that the restaurant was only 4 minutes walk from the hotel, even in the snow.

Anyway, we duly timed a snack at the right time so we would be hungry enough for dinner but not too hungry as to be past it. Very clever bodies :-)

At 9.15 we left our hotel wrapped up like Eskimos and slithered the short distance to the restaurant, taking extra care on the slope down to the building itself! The two rooms were already ...
