So we finally capitulated and made the 2-hour trip to Etnaland, which is in the middle of nowhere, to the left of Catania.

We arrived at the advertised opening time of 9.30, but were pipped at the post by a hundred or so eager teens and Tweens and their parents...... It's gonna be a loooonnnnnnggggg day, I thought.

A Google search while we waited for the town to rise from her slumber, did not reveal any pistachio shops / wholesalers, but the bartender told us about a place near the church. We searched again without success in the most suffocating heat, and were saved by a lovely lady who directed us to a pasticceria that specialised in pistachio products. Naples to Catania

... about 22 people altogether and 13 of them were Australians. We then went to the hotel restaurant and had a beautiful 3 course dinner with everyone. The first course was pasta meatballs extremely delicious. The second course was a veal roll with a spinach roll coated in almonds and this to was delicious followed by fruit salad. We had an enjoyable evening getting to know some of the people. Off to bed now as we have to be up at 6.15am tomorrow. ...

Seeing that it is summer in America and Europe, I cant brag to you about the beautiful sunny warm weather, but I can say that the location was one of the most beautiful places that I have seen. Both from the top of the mountain in Taormina to the beach in Nexos. To God be the glory for creating such a beautiful world! Next stop: Switzerland!
