The Fishing City

As we arrived at Trondheim rail station, we realised that we had not writen down where we were staying whilst here! We lugged our backage around the city seeking out the Information Center in hope of a computer. We were directed to the local Libary which held free computers to use. After a short panic of not being able to find ...

Trondheim: Full Speed ahead

... the Norwegians like to construct all over the country. In short, if bridges will not do the job, build tunnels under the sea or fjords. These are really quite elaborate architectural constructs and must cost a fortune. Good to see the North Sea oil being put to fine use. Around Alesund there are several of these tunnels varying in length up to 2000 metres or more. Alesund also is known for its furniture production. If the prices in the Art Nouveau shops ...

A very cold day

It's been a glorious wonderful day here in Trondheim. Nothing beats this town in great weather. It's extremely cold -12 degrees with a breeze which makes it very invigorating (read insanely cold!)

I drove around Trondheim photographing all day today. I went back to some of the places from my childhood, even back to the house where I grew up.

I've spent the last few days with my family and friends in Trondheim. I'm looking forward to skiing at Oppdal on Thursday.

Tomorrow (Friday, also incidentally Australia Day) I am going to school with Tjord, Wenche's son. That should be interesting so I may have to think up some stories about Australia and I have very few props but Im sure it ...

A quick one!

As you know, I am in Northern Norway on my week-long excursion. So far it has been a lot of fun. I am currently in Trondheim, but I am just going to say that I am in Røros for fun (and so I can get a little pin on my map of Norway!) We left bright and early on Monday morning and took a train from Hamar to Røros. The scenery was beautiful! I really enjoyed the trip and we all just sat around and talked. When we stepped off the train ...

On the road....

As part of our Society and Culture class, we took a week-long excursion to the north which was a very interesting trip. I will try to do an entry for each of the places that we stopped and spent the night. We began, of course, in Hamar at the train station where we met fairly early in the day in order to head away from the familiar sight of Mjøsa (the big lake). Our university has campuses in 4 or 5 different locations with the ...
