    I just totted up the total distance we pedaled between Rome and Canterbury - it comes to 1,892Km (or 1,182 miles).

    The ride from Canterbury to where Ian's car was parked near Gatwick was a further 137Km, split by the overnight stop at Tunbridge Wells.

    Monday 7 January

    We are off! Fantastic send off from Southampton...our families are famous cos it seems half the ship was waving to them. Very emotional send off but just wonderful to see them all on the dock. The speed limit on the motorway is 70mph, so we sat on 65mph not tying to catch attention in the middle or inside lane, but those passing us on the outside we're going at least 80 - 100mph.
