Hills that is, Swimming pools, movie stars.
Yep we made it to LA. Quite a long haul from Grand Canyon, but we broke it up with a couple of hours in Vegas which was good. The cheap transfer from Vegas dropped us in Korea town which was interesting...luckily it wasn't too long before we hailed a cab who ended up being really helpful with …
... few stops in LA then began our drive to Vegas!!!! We made a few break stops along the way including our lunch stop and in and out burger ( the supposed gourmet fast food burger) it was alright, but I don't really see what the big fuss was about. It took roughly 4/5 hours to get to Vegas and once we arrived we piled into our hotel, the golden nugget. Safe to say this was way nicer that is expected to be staying in! The first night ...
Phew! We made it to LA - 33.5 hours after we left (about 27 hours in flight). I felt like death going Perth/Dubai but better going Dubai/LA but poor Kate felt like she wouldn't make it on the second leg. Thankfully she did make it and after a good night's sleep she is no longer at death's door ...

This motel is clean, pretty cheap and walking distance to the walk of Fame/Chinese Theater and only a ten minute drive from Universal. If you, like us, only came to sleep, go to Universal and take a quick peek at the walk of Fame, this is the hotel for you. The motel owner was kinda friendly and had a deal with a parking lot a few minute walk from the motel where we could park for $10 a day. The neighborhood didn't feel too safe, but then again, neither did any other part of Hollywood.
If you have a longer stay in Los Angeles, I advise you not to stay in Hollywood. Apart from the walk of fame (not impressive) and the Chinese theater, there is nothing to see. Stay downtown, or in Santa Monica, and drive to Hollywood for a few hours.
