good enough motel close enough to hollywood boulevard

This motel is clean, pretty cheap and walking distance to the walk of Fame/Chinese Theater and only a ten minute drive from Universal. If you, like us, only came to sleep, go to Universal and take a quick peek at the walk of Fame, this is the hotel for you. The motel owner was kinda friendly and had a deal with a parking lot a few minute walk from the motel where we could park for $10 a day. The neighborhood didn't feel too safe, but then again, neither did any other part of Hollywood.
If you have a longer stay in Los Angeles, I advise you not to stay in Hollywood. Apart from the walk of fame (not impressive) and the Chinese theater, there is nothing to see. Stay downtown, or in Santa Monica, and drive to Hollywood for a few hours.

Hills that is, Swimming pools, movie stars.

Yep we made it to LA. Quite a long haul from Grand Canyon, but we broke it up with a couple of hours in Vegas which was good. The cheap transfer from Vegas dropped us in Korea town which was interesting...luckily it wasn't too long before we hailed a cab who ended up being really helpful with …

... WTF!! Plenty of 'medical' weed shops (and 'doctors' who for $40 will assess or see if you are eligible for medical marijuana!!!). Nearly got run over by 4 bikes and 6 skateboards!! Got to Muscle Beach and decided to leave the Venice behind and get back on the bus!! Once we got on the bus I realised we were going to be late to get to the LA stars and bars tour we had booked at 5.30pm!! By the time we go on and off ...

... were loads. For dinner we went to a gourmet sausage place, I had a duck and bacon sausage but was tempted to go for the rabbit and rattle snake one. I was disappointed in myself afterwards for not trying it. After having churros and hot chocolate for dessert, Alex took me home, it was lovely to see him again. Today I went on a tour of LA and Universal Studios. First we went to the end of Route 66 (it starts in Chicago) and to see Santa Monica pier. ...
