Hills that is, Swimming pools, movie stars.
Yep we made it to LA. Quite a long haul from Grand Canyon, but we broke it up with a couple of hours in Vegas which was good. The cheap transfer from Vegas dropped us in Korea town which was interesting...luckily it wasn't too long before we hailed a cab who ended up being really helpful with …
... The 1 until we reached Redondo Beach. We were invited to stay with a couple who we met on the beach in South Carolina months prior and then also randomly ran into on the streets of Savanah. They owned a nice house with a big driveway that we were able to setup the Scamp in and gave us access to whatever we needed. It was perfect. This motel is clean, pretty cheap and walking distance to the walk of Fame/Chinese Theater and only a ten minute drive from Universal. If you, like us, only came to sleep, go to Universal and take a quick peek at the walk of Fame, this is the hotel for you. The motel owner was kinda friendly and had a deal with a parking lot a few minute walk from the motel where we could park for $10 a day. The neighborhood didn't feel too safe, but then again, neither did any other part of Hollywood.
If you have a longer stay in Los Angeles, I advise you not to stay in Hollywood. Apart from the walk of fame (not impressive) and the Chinese theater, there is nothing to see. Stay downtown, or in Santa Monica, and drive to Hollywood for a few hours.
