... middle of nowhere. Adam finds his dream lunch of a sloppy dish filled with beans, potatoes and huge smelly sausage. I find mine, blueberry strudel. Life is so good! Apparently every Slovenian lunch must start with a shot of the local Grappa. The ride home was much easier.

It’s hard to leave this paradise but alas we must, as we are such adventurers. We are putting our car on the Avolak. This is a train for cars that ...

... We drove to Skocjan Caves which was amazing!! and Chris drove stick shift very successfully- woohoo! Life is not a straight road. Things happen when you least expect it. Most will know how our road trip began but Optimus deserves a special mention, or perhaps a eulogy. Optimus, named after the hero Transformer 'Optimus Prime' (some may have to wiki this), was a wonderful Volkswagen Eos convertible whose roof mechanism was a display in itself. Unfortunately, his life was cruelly cut short. A guy on a bike carrying a large bag of drugs ...

... to pick up then through a few of the little Alpine villages before getting to the Gorge so it's a lovely ride. Then the walk itself along the gorge is amazing, the entrance fee is €4 a person. You walk alongside the river where the water is crystal clear and runs at amazing speed through a limestone chasm. There has been an astonishing amount of work to make paths and boardwalks along most of the way so ...
