        ... and their historical society has done a wonderful job of marking sites, but I find it loud and busy for a small town. The park area we are in however is very peaceful.... all we here are ducks and blue jays. We will move on to Lock # 5 in a day or so where we are told we can dock overnight in a pretty park, and then on to Mechanicville at Lock #3. ...

        ... to the waiting dock for the lock and Marty managed to get me onto the crazy high cement wall with my two lines. A guy came to talk to us and said we could not stay there, but there was a free wall on the other side in town. He opened the lock right away to get us through. These locks are different from what we are used to- this one had poles you can loop your lines around as the water goes up, and also some permanent lines hanging down to hold on to. ...

        ... Crown Point and stopped overnight at Fort Ticonderoga. The winds were supposed to be from the south and then west, so we anchored above the Fort area to be protected. There was no wind at all in the end, we should have gone to the south anchorage.... as we passed it by the next day we saw it had a much better view. It was a very quiet sleep after the ferry stopped, and after the gazillion birds finished their convention in the trees nearby. ...

        Thanks to Otto, I was able to squeeze in another paddle before the end of my season. He drove all the way down to the lower Hudson at Lake Luzerne from Saranac Lake to accommodate me. His grandson Milo was staying with him so I got to meet him.

        I had a map, but managed to get a bit lost on the way. I tried to call Otto but no cell service. Then I got a call from him saying he was running late and lost. ...

        ... black flies that cause quite a stir on the raft as people smacked each other in attempts to kill the miniature beasts. Well we survived the rafting trip and headed out to our next destination of Vacation Village in the Berkshires, a timeshare just outside of Albany across the MA border. We arrived safetly and checked in to our hotsy totsy new accommodations complete with a bed and TV's. Looking forward to what our new location can provide entertainment wise, we retire for the night.
