... camera on holiday is terrible. They suggested that I take it to a French reseller and get it assessed. If it needs to be sent off for repair (and they agree that it hasn't failed because of my misuse)...don't send it off. Buy a new camera, bring the old one back, show receipts and they'll sort it all out. They will confirm it all overnight but that's great customer service Also a slight hiccup in the plan ...

After speaking to some Aussies - Georgie convinced Tony and I to take a 45km ride to Col du Galibier (elevation 2600m). What we failed to realise was that it was a total of 98 round trip with 45km of climbing, through tunnels you could not see your hand in front of you face (at times). Still a very worthwhile effort by all. Rob told us it was the best day riding he had every had. The ride included ...

This is to be another epic day in the French Alpes . We were off to take on the mighty Col du Galibier. Woody was having trouble with his knee form previous rides so it was decided that we would hire a bus to take us to Col du Tautaret and then take on the Galibier. We woke early had breakfast and headed to our rendezvous site to find out that the bus had problems ...

... or Netherlands. Anyhow, at lunch Georgie was talking to some Aussie riders and heard they were heading to Alpe Du Huez that afternoon - well there went the easy leg turn over. So we head straight up ADH, summarised at 1k vertical in 17kms. Although not super steep, it was a constant grind in 34 degree temps which made it harder. Amazing views because you can see the top from the start of the ...

Our last full day in Alpe d'Huez is another belter. Awoke at 7am to see the sun streaming in through the window. Not a hint of a cloud anywhere....just the way I like it, home or away.

I was planning to get a reasonably lengthy ride in today, +100kms and then put the bike away until the Etape du Tour on Sunday. Us old codgers need plenty of recovery time prior to the ...
