... surfers, but I would not have liked being out in a small boat fishing! The weather picked up over the bank holiday weekend - it's a holiday in France too. We have had patches of lovely warm sunshine, but most of the time there has been a wind. It comes off the lake and has a cutting edge to it. Our next planned stop was an aire at La Breole. We also had a bench perfectly positioned, on which to enjoy our well ...

After Grenoble we headed off into The mountains on the D85 - the Route Napoleon - the route Napoleon took in March 1815 after he left Elba and arrived on the south coast of France. Only we were doing the route in the ...

... all day in this fabulous country I finally emerge onto the Route Napoleon just north of Gap. My road has taken me high up above the spectacular Lac du Sautet. It's a fast run now over to the unfortunately named town of Corps.

I book in to the Hotel de la Poste where I order a simple evening meal which turns out to be quite the opposite. But I will save that tale for tomorrow.
