    It has been a wet old day from start to finish which we think is the first time that has happened during our entire trip! Not bad eh! We left our pretty little valley camp site and headed down to Carlisle.     ... The road took us up over a range of hills (the summit was 2000ft) and the views out over the dales were absolutely spectacular. Being back in the high country was really good for Charlie's soul - he was thrilled to see some tussocks! Part of the road, where Whitfield is, was voted one of Europe's ten most scenic drives.
