... Poverty is not immediately oblivious though during a lunchtime stop at a market stall, one little girl appeared and begged the already eaten chicken bones from our plate, knawing at them vigorously to remove any meat we may have missed. We thought about buying her a meal but noticed other children watching from the shadows. However the stall holder out of pity, or to impress us invited her to sit and put a basic meal ...
Sihanoukville, Khétt Kâmpôt, Cambodia albionvicar... us - 3 in the front, 5 in the back seat and a Muslim woman and her husband in the boot. Our backpacks hung from a rod behind the open hatch back as they wouldn't fit in the car. The two bales of hay also being transported took precedence!
Finally we found a hotel, had a delicious meal including a few beers, real fruit juices and a pineapple daiquiri and crashed.
It's Saturday morning now, we're sitting in our hotel dining / lounge area 5 steps ...
Sihanoukville, Cambodia wendydean... we are near, splits into two, the top part is a bit more popular, where the southern bit is really quiet and we could pretty much have it to ourselves. There seems to be a lot to do here, snorkeling and diving in the reefs, watersports, island hopping and a huge National Park not that far away. Not ...
Sihanoukville, Cambodia alyson.morganWent to S-21 prison in Phnom Phen yesterday where Pol Pot's regime tortured and slaughtered thousands of people. An estimated 17''000 people were held there between 1975 and 1979. The killing fields, where many of the prisoners were taken to be slaughtered and dumped in mass graves, still have bones and clothes sticking out of the ground which ...

Sihanoukville, Cambodia spirityufo... drivers jumped in, saying what we wanted to pay was too low, but they could take us for $1 each. it was too good to resist, and although i was definitely quite terrified as we sped along, i was also exhilerated: really, what trip to southeast asia is complete without riding on a scooter? (and for those who might worry - the roads here are very straight and seem safe, it was midday, there is little traffic and they did not go fast - they were actually really good ...
Sihanoukville, Cambodia moonrise... I actually learned that the Taro flavor is really good. The next day which was our last day there, we were lucky enough to get some sun. Although the stringing women were back and one of them decided it was OK to feel all up on my leg...including my thigh, sooo uncomfortable! Kelley finally got real serious with them and then they left us alone. We only stayed out for a little bit, although still managed to get burned.
Sihanoukville, Cambodia kbreezy11Possibly our least favourite place so far, actually that goes to Qufu, Sihanoukville was psy-trance meets Weatherspoons meets grotty sex-tourism. Thats not quite fair we spent a few days there and found some really nice places. Otres beach a little out of town almost reaches Thai standards with nice white sand a clear sea and we found a few bars and restaurants with good ...
Sihanoukville, Cambodia offtherailsDay1, We arrived late after a quick lunch stop and bus change in Phnom Penh, 12 hours travelling for not many kms. a couple of moto drivers run us around some shocking hotels until we found the Aspara. We dumped our bags and headed out for dinner before checking out the beach bars, it has a Thailand beach party feel to it. We had a few beers and got talking to some others, Jo and Steve, who we had a few more beers with. Beat from the days travels we called it a night fairly ...
Sihanoukville, Cambodia chris~laura... was definately a moment to remember, away from the tourists, watching the sun set with a beer to Louis Armstrong (are we showing our age or what!).. definately a place we will come back to for sure!

During the rest of our final time in Cambodia, we got a long boat out to Bamboo island which was a pretty deserted isle with just bungalow huts, where we swam, slept ...
