The first full day back at the farm. First we will work on the loft and put up the 700 lb. beam and try to get the floor done. Harvest always comes first so hopefully we can start on a bean field tomorrow. The pictures tell most of the story on todays work. Tomorrow we will prepare the combine and set it up for beans from corn. We hope to start combining by late afternoon. ...

... sites on a hillside next to a lake. It didn’t seem to have any good biking trails or swimming in the lake either. (The Iowa Parks website said that this park was one of the best that southwest Iowa had to offer. Hmmm, that’s not saying much for Iowa.)

Besides the lack of people (and traffic) one of the things that really stood out was how tall the curbs were in comparison to the road. The photo of Bri with one foot on the curb and one on the road really demonstrates it best. To cross the road they had a little set of steps at each intersection to help you up and down easily.

11pm in the middle of Iowa. This town has a population of about 700...it's about one block long...people are friendly...houses are cheap...quiet..,Danish heritage....storefronts empty...lots of fireflies.
