I love this season, especially at this latitude!
The gathering of the sheaves, the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness... Keats' Ode To Autumn is one of my favourites ... sheer perfection.
I know most of you wouldn't think of me and hymns in the same sentence but this lovely hymn of the title is apt for this entry.

Anyway, we finally got to our hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our evening in Birmingham.
The next morning saw us returning our hire car and taking the 2.5 hour flight to Malaga. We both loved Spain the last time we visited and made sure that it was back on our list of things to do for this time. Warm weather, paella, friendly Spaniards and more golf courses - what is there not to love?
... This was endlessly entertaining and informative - the host was very funny and always making himself laugh, and they also had news and music (everything from popular music to the Beatles). I had some tea and biscuits while I listened to this and planned my day.
I went to town for a couple of errands, and then I set off to drive to Broadway, a village about five miles from here. I did use the GPS, ...
... and more formal flower beds.
I'm glad we brought our picnic set as we're keen to set out on a decent day, with a bottle of cloudy cider, some cheddar cheese and a spot with a view of -- anything really -- it's all gorgeous at Hidcote.
As is the best of them all -- the quirky and absolutely sublime Snowshill Manor.

... Our cabin, compared to the Australis, was lovely – comfortable and with a place for everything. I couldn’t wish for more. Now I know what's meant by 'ship-shape'.
The rooms were beautifully maintained (I saw the girls carefully arranging pillows in the cabin next door).
And even though we were right near the main desk, which could get busy at times, we weren’t really disturbed.
What WAS disturbing – no fault ...
