Jimmy Walker used to say DY-NO-MITE!

... so.
Michelle from LA a TTCer who took the photos from the beach on Kanyakumari trip
Rupali from Mumbai a TTC alum who taught me more about yoga than any instructor

And of course, there's the realization that however much I had to complain about, I could always get a lift from the TTC guys for sheer schaudenfreude. OK, all in all not bad for 450 rupees (6 quid) per day.

The 7 Habits of Highly Suggestible People

... speeches on leadership and personal development to executives of Fortune 500 companies like Nike and Microsoft. Which is all to say, he's as close to being an authentic Indian guru as I am to being a Korean Confucian scholar. He does have a number of other, less catchy but more forthrightly titled books like "The Greatness Guide," but this one was his breakout success, which goes to show that a spoonful of ...

Varkala: a week at the beach

... beer, though you might have to set the beer bottle on the floor and keep it off the table, or drink beer out of a tea pot and a huge tea cup like here at Krishnatheeram. 2008.11.25 Varkala I found a wonderful Ladakh/Kashmir place for jewelry. I got 9 gift pendants (well, one might be for me), then returned to the store to show Ed and ended up getting strings of peridot and ruby necklaces and the garnet ring I liked ...

Missing Shoes

... flipflops I bought here. Only me. seriously. I lose everything...typical Morgan fashion. However, the best part is my reaction. I didn't scream, freak out, get upset or anything else. I laughed. I actually laughed...shook my head..and attached that remaining shoe to the outside of my bag. I stopped at this point and compared this person to the person who arrived in Delhi..in Varanasi and it ...

Rain

It doesn't usually rain in Kerala at this time of year, but it did, and of course it was on the one night I slept outside. It was my last night in Varkala and Sean had left to go travelling with a couple of high school friends he randomly bumped into. I couldn't afford to stay in the same place on my own, so I moved into a rooftop dorm without any shelter. I was sleeping on the most ...

Lights, Camera, ACTION! My Bollywood experience

... New Zealand and Australia will test my budgetary limits! And the traveling.. I've found it helps to take care of things as much as I can, ahead of time. Auto rickshaws are everywhere.. when they see a foreigner coming some drivers might double or triple their rates. I'm relaxed, when I know I'm being conned I say thanks and move on to the next.. but if it's a matter of 20 rupees, I don't worry. The difference in living standards, cost of ...

... encouraging women to get involved in commerce. It said: 'Husband working late again? Indulge yourself. Buy shoes.' Oh dear. So now, after a crazy month of trains, buses and boats, of parks and plantations, of temples, ruins, mosques and museums, I am completely templed out. India is a bizarre wonderland, and my four months here have been a real experience. I've seen the best and the worst of the country. I've met some great people - Barry, Pal and Jay in ...

Bobblehead mania

... rests all the way along the top of a cliff that overlooks a gorgeous beach. The town is so relaxed and is flooded with hippies, tourists and bikinis. Jordan and I threw the frisbee around for hours yesterday and had the most delicious coconut curry and red snapper. The next couple of days should be more of the same: frisbee, coconut curry and bikinis. I'm off to find more meanings of the bobblehead. What ever happened to Cito Gaston anyways? -Daniel

Beach Cricket and the Ravings of a Scotsman

Reflection is a wonderful thing. I permit you to let me reflect on my last four days/three nights spent at Varkala in the south of Kerala. The beach and overlooking cliffs are majestic, the shops eclectic and filled with colourful material and colourful people offering the best prices in town, the sun bright and warm and not too powerful as in Queensland. Each day is started the same; a few hours on the beach swimming, lying, reading and conversing with locals, before a ...
