... br> Hey, chicken/rooster road kill does not look very pretty. But again, it’s really common, as there are sooooo many wild chickens on the island. And some of them are pretty dumb.

I drove from Kapa’a to Waimea and it took just over an hour. The drive to the top of the Canyon Road was very fun to drive on - lots of turns and hills to conquer. I was really glad I arrived in the morning. Later on, I made it to ...

... very beautiful. The pictures I took should speak for themselves.

We got back down to Intersections but the waves were not any good today. I actually didn't catch any good waves on this day. It wasn't working anything like it had been the previous day. Still, it was a bright sunny day on the west coast of Kauai and we still had hot dogs and beer so I enjoyed myself in indulging in some of those. We returned to the house that evening and had a quiet night.

... It wasn't very big, but it was glassy and the water was almost crystal clear. It was so beautiful. The wave ended up forming a funny little wedge that was pitching some little barrels. There was this Japanese looking guy who was surfing like he had this small wave completely dialed in. He would drop-in, get barreled-come out-then bust numerous maneuvers until the wave petered out. He was pretty cool to watch, and had obviously surfed ...

... Unfortunately the 85+ degree weather at the beach was replaced by 68 degree weather with wind and some rain. Neither Eric nor I had appropriate clothes. But luckily we had gear for Nate, which is all that really matters, right? Who cares if we're freezing in shorts and a t-shirt while Nate is bundled up in a sweater with a hood? :) At the second lookout, we noticed a hiking trail that many people were headed on, so we put on our hiking gear ...

... when you think how many people are swimming over it daily. This is clear, shallow and accessible snorkeling and it was full of other people all day. The coolest thing I saw was a sea turtle noshing on some plants and lots of smaller colorful fish. We had opted for the ultimate Hawaiian tourist adventure, the luau. This one is on the islands biggest river, Wailua and has botanical gardens that you can tour before the ceremony where the pig is unearthed and the buffet begins. It's ...
