... row. Amazingly, we're only about a hundred yards from the Costco Warehouse. Such a deal!

In thinking, I've omitted the fact that US 50 runs somewhat along the old route of the Pony Express. Not much is left of any of it, but signs point out when you're driving close to the trail.

Carson is located in the serious mountains of Northern Nevada. Snow can still be seen in the distance ...

I awoke this morning at 5am and looked out our room's window on the 18th floor to see beautiful white mountains. Took my shower got dressed and enjoyed a nice cup of hot coffee while waiting for Dave and Elisa to wake up.

... of Yosemite. Bodie was a most fascinating ghost town. You could almost call it an American Pompeii. Since its apogee in the 1880s, when thousands of tons of gold was mined, the town declined, until it was made a national park in 1962. What you see is what happened after the second fire of 1932. Abandoned houses, many still furnished with broken furniture, tattered wallpaper ...

    ... on hikes.
It took us just 10 minutes to start realizing what we had forgotten, Charlie Flo forgot his rain jacket, and we both found ourselves, light and lighter less in the woods. Wow, brain ****. We had no way to see at night, now way of lighting our stove and a safety hazard. A great way to start. We decided to walk along the dirt road that we were paralleling and hope someone would drive by who we could bum a lighter off of. We got lucky, dinner was saved, a pick up drove by that ...
