... and lived in a traditional Vietnamese house. It was perfect. The house itself was in the middle of a huge plot of land covered in guava, banana and a variety of other plants and trees which they used to sell at the market for money. The front of their house was surrounded by coco beans drying in the sun. All of the family had come down to see “the foreigners” and we all sat down to traditional Vietnamese lunch on a mat on the floor with rice wine to wash it ...

Our week was super low key. We may have missed out on some sights and a little bit of culture, but when you leave for an 8-week trip, you need to plan on having some down time.
So we drank $1 beers, ate amazing food (including a BBQ pulled pork sandwich at a Texas BBQ), soaked up the sun on the beach, and I did a little more shopping – real crocodile and snakeskin ...

Later in the day we all went out for lunch together and in the evening we went with Gijs to get dinner, unfortunately we missed saying bye to the Chileans as they had to get a bus to move on at 21:00. Everyone is down at the Beach right now, then off into town as Mom wants to go look at some silk shops. I don't know where to start or end concerning the Gala. It was spectacular. They had a Traditional Vietnamese Lion Dance Troop that was awesome. Here is a video clip of the troop. Marion and Karen might have seen (living in San Francisco) the monkeying up the pole bit, but we never had seen any Lion ...
