... the mounting of the kayak was a challenge for the Plumwhats but the water gods were looking down on us so we were spared a dunking (only just though). Bus, Boat and Bus to Cat Ba Island
... best view ever of limestone karsts jutting out of the sea and of all the fishing boats. We had a walk along the front, went to the harbour, watched the fishermen, walked more, went to a cafe, watched the susnet from our room (stunning),went back out had a smorsgabord washed down with a beer or 2, had a head and neck massage. Perfect way to end a perfect day!

Ha Long Bay
... nothing but a big tourist trap. With no other option than to plough through the tat and nicknacks of the biggest souvenir shop we'd ever seen. With eyes fixed to the floor we made it out the other side alive, successfully escaping the mob of shop assistances with only a small can of coke purchased. Vietnam – Cat Ba Island at Ha Long Bay
... our expectations and the photos will not do the amazing landscape justice. We had a great lunch on the boat with a lovely bunch of fellow tourists, the weather was fine and we kayaked through rock tunnels and swam on the beach at the Monkey Island (with quite hostile monkeys stealing stuff from tourists). At the end of the trip our group all agreed to meet up later for dinner and drinks so we had a great end to a great day and Ha Long Bay became our favourite place ...
