After Jakarta, the next big stop heading east is the town of Yogyakarta, which is a pleasant little town in its own right, particularly notable for its becaks, bicycle-driven rickshaws which are used to ferry people around, tourists and locals alike. However, the main reason for going there is to visit the two stunning ancient monuments nearby, Borobudur and Prambanan, two unconnected sites ...

For the second time I changed country (before feeling too much at home in Malaysia). The ferry from Melaka was rather fast. To be honest, if I would have known how tough it would've been, there would be no way I would've tried it.

BUT! It was all worth it.

Once we finally went up the 200 meter hill, and down on the other side, we arrived at the most serene river bend ...

... The next stop was to climb the volcano up to the rim.

The traffic was an absolute nightmare, a complete gridlock of jeeps and our driver blamed it on the fact we had left it too late due to waiting on the Malaysian couple. He said we could walk it if we want and it would take an hour. We were all just about to get out and walk it when we started moving. Eventually we made it to the bottom of the volcano and there was no way we’d have done it in 1 hour if ...
