... to snuff. In most cases, your guide can remedy the situation. Tours generate a lot of revenue for hotels and restaurants, as they are used again and again by the tour operator, so they have a vested interest in your satisfaction. It's okay to speak up, but pick your battles wisely, don't be a whiner and don't get too attached to the outcome. Not all your experiences can be amazing and the worst often make the best stories later on!

... so I ended up paying a small fortune for a hotel room near Club Mahindra (the hotel where we spent the first 3 nights) that was still on the beach and close to the train station.

When we arrived at Zuri Whitesands Resort and Casino, we were greeted with a mocktail, a scented cold hand towel, and seated while the front desk checked us in. Due to high occupancy, we were upgraded to a junior suite free of charge. Our room was amazing! And bigger than the top floor of our ...

Not much to report today. We have an early breakfast and walk to the beach. Snorkelling proves pretty fruitless on this sandy bottomed beach although I do spot a small crab. By 11am the sun is heating up so we dry off and head for a cafe for a nice cold drink. We laze around enjoying the beach views over a nice iced coffee.

Look out...there's a dead body over there, exclaims the cafe owner. Someone has swum out to a big black rock, climbed on top of it and is flat on their ...

... the heat, as we watched another beautiful sunset! We headed back to swim at the longest swimming pool in Goa. Our room opens up the swimming pool, yet another amazing part of our stay! We ended our day with a great meal at the local restaurant. Imagine huge prawns sautéed in butter garlic!! Yum yum! Looking forward to wedding ...

Found home at Cressida Cyrus Coco Huts

What a lovely place this turned out to be. The huts are nestled in a grove of towering coconut palms. It is a two minute walk to get from our porch to the beautiful wide beach cove lined with lively bars and restaurants. There is plenty of space to find solitude, if desired.

We enjoyed fantastic fresh caught BBQ fish dinners while watching the sun sink into the ...
