... us a fortune in cabs- and don't forget about tips! The zoo is so big! First order once everyone arrived was a zoo bus tour. This takes you all around to give you an idea of where everything is, and narrated by the lovely driver. It gave us a chance to see some of the animals that are usually hiding during the day- they know their feed times and wait for their keepers - so we got to see some grizzlies in the morning that weren't out by the time we got back - you get the drift ...

... Diego Harbour where we saw the USS Midway who h has been turned into a museum. We could of gotten off to explore but we wanted to do the round trip. We continued on our trolley and went past the Horton Plaza Shopping Centre, Gaslamp Quarter, we also went over the San Diego/Coronado Bay Bridge, up to the Zoo and back to Old Town where we started from. Going over San Diego/Coronado Bay Bridge was an experience, as we sat eight at the back of the trolley ...

... where we got out of the car to boat and bird watch! Then we headed out to Point Loma, which is where San Diego was first discovered. We thought we'd gone the wrong way when we entered an army barracks but turns out you just drive through it to get to the end point! We parked and walked up to the lighthouse at the top of the cliff where in the winter you can see grey whales as they migrate down from Alaska! ... how to put, our table was ready. We had a delicious and relaxed lunch. Returning to the Koontz residence, we put our laundry in the dryer, and went to the grocery store for some staples for our beachfront room. Dayna opted out of the beach visit for a little personal time, and the Goodners, Jim, and Alice went to the beach. But, after much deliberation, I left the Zoo, SeaWorld, and all the other jazz for another time...this trip was about NOT having plans!!

I did get to Coronado Island, which is beautiful...if I had more time I would have spent it there. It is a great walking area, with some interesting shops and sights.

Knowing me, this won't come as a surprise...we found a fantastic bar ...
