With my big bag tucked away and all the semi warm clothes I owned tucked in a smaller bag I set off at 5am to make the drive to kilometre zero and start this trek of three days and two nights covering 52 km and with an elevation gain starting from 600m to hopefully the summit at 3726m. We'll certainly notice it when we go back to Vietnam. There were too many tourists in Bali for our liking & you couldn't seem to get away from them. The hotel we stayed at was really nice, down one of the main lane ways in Kuta but set back enough to not be able to hear ...

... locals here. They all have a sense of humor and they all love Australians. We thought this island would be full of Australians but it is full of Europeans. Apparently Australians do not go to the Gili islands and prefer Bali. We only know of a couple of people who have been to Gili (Laurie and Phil & Trish) The Gili Islands are far more beautiful, relaxed and half the price of Bali!! Anyway, we met a guy called Guna and he asked us what we were doing in Gili. ...
