The night before
School's out, work is on pause and the cottage industry is closed for Christmas. It's finally here after months of waiting and we're all beside ourselves with excitement.
The bags are packed (with space to spare thanks to Annette's frugal choice of clothes) and we have even managed to find room for Ellie much to Esther's relief.
We've got so many exciting new experiences ahead of us crammed into a 7 week trip. South East Asia here we come!

Morning of NY
Now on the way to Manchester Airport in a big taxi! Very unsettled after a strange nights sleep, waking up hoping I haven't missed the taxi. Little Mix were at the Dog and Partridge pub in my dream, tried to get a picture but my phone was broken. After trying to assure the little beauties in front of me that my camera phone will work, and my wife has to see a picture, they politely said they needed to go. Bundling into the minibus, I tried again, by this time ...
Liverpool.....Yeh, Yeh, Yeh
... music, so we enjoyed it all. Mind you, we weren’t committed enough to take a Beatles Bus tour, which takes you to places like their childhood homes, schools, Abbey Road, Eleanor Rigby’s grave (yes, she really existed), Strawberry Field (a park), etc.
So, if I had to summarize our stay in Liverpool, I’d say that it was good for us because, in a way, we felt like we were in our 20s all over again. And who wouldn’t like that?

with a weekend of nothing planned I decided to hit the frog and toad to Liverpool to visit me old china Simon from camp. Jumped on the virgin express which was quite a nice ride. Arrived in Liverpool at 10:30 and hit up a local bar for a quiet ale at the Wellington. Very seedy yet charming pub with old school 50's country and rock music. Met some locals who were hilarious. One was a "10 pound pom" which he proceeded to tell me ...
Easy day =)
... bread. We did have a little trip to Tesco in the middle since we didn't have a crusty loaf for the garlic bread. But once everything was said and done, we had made a beautiful meal and it was easily the best meal I had since I left the ship.
The perfect way to end such a lovely day was having a long chat to Edith and Dave. Those two are so amazing, I am so appreciative of their company and kindness towards me.
