We stayed on the main drag in Fort Cochin, a beautiful, albeit touristy, town on te sea. It's a centuries old trading port on the spice route which has inevitably, a strong Christian influence. Meditation and Flying
I wake up early to pack so I can go to the morning meditation with the sitar and tabla players. We sit on the stage with them. Up close and personal. There are 8 of us. I sit along the wall so I can have some support for my back. They provide us with bamboo mats and the cushions from the chairs in the audience to sit on. I also have my yoga mat. Kicking Back in Kochi
... Costa-Gamma guesthouse where we stayed who offered us advice, invited us in to share an interesting Indian sweet drink and helped arrange for me to see an eye doctor when I had a bit of an infection. (The eye doctor was interesting in a 1950s way!!).

Old Haunts
... br> We set off at 7.45am in our TATA Indica, all comfy and safe with seat belts in the back, a rarity in India. Our driver occasionally keeps us amused with nonsense stories of the Periyar Dam being built with granite and egg gravy, at least that's what it sounded like. Great, it'll last a 1000 years he thinks. We only stop a couple of times for chai and lunch. The route takes us over the Western Ghats at Periyar & Kumily, places ...
