... in town sometimes eating double the amount we would in a Calgary restaurant. After all, why not? With prices so cheap, it was a treat to be able to spend and try out dishes we wouldn't normally try. We finished off he day with strolling around town. When the sunlight diminished, this is when the town truly came alive. The streets have thousands of different colour fabric lanterns hanging from the trees that kept the sky hidden. Buildings around the busy areas used the same lanterns ...

... turn it into a huge entertainment resort for Chinese holiday makers. They have already built a hideous gold hotel and casino three quarters of the way up and apparently a theme park and other hotels are planned in the next few years.

We really loved Kampot town, it was small enough to walk around with lots of cafés and coffee shops serving really good (western) food. A lot of westerners have set up guesthouses and/or restaurants here and it's easy to see why. ...
