... creek. The concrete was laid as rocks right through the creek and with the rain we've been having the water was running atop them. The attatched picture is this place. Later I showed Ryan and I think he got some really nice pictures that I'll make B&W probably. We hooked Lola up to some water and electric and showered and showered and charged up all our belongings. We planned to go up the observation tower in the state park and then go hiking to see Balancing Rock (a place Christa ...

The Great American Spa

... baths and are washed, steamed and massaged by an attendant. It is a very unique experience but also relaxing and enjoyable.

The mineral waters here are of high quality and you can drink them straight from the ground, the centre of town has a mineral water fill station where everyone, from near and far, brings their bottles to fill with the hot mineral water. It tastes really good and isn't too 'minerally'.

Blanchard Springs Caverns

Spent the day in the caverns. Took 2 tours - Discovery and Dripstone trails. Strolled through large, beautifully lighted rooms with handrails and paved trails where we saw glistening formations like stalactites, stalagmites, columns and where flowstones are still changing. These crystalline formations are the result of minerals deposited by dripping water.

my travels

Moved to a farm in an old school bus. No house on the farm. Lived in the bus until my dad built 2 shacks and an outhouse. Took a bath once a week in a big metal wash tup and shared the water with my 2 brothers and sister. 1 at a time of course while the others held up a sheet so the cars passingby on the dirt road couldn't see us.

On Home

So we made it home! We will definitely be keeping busy while we are at home this week with ball tournaments and Father's Day. We are so blessed to be able to be home for all of this! We are also hoping to catch a movie at the Drive-In sometime while we are home. It is so much fun to just play ball and have games and snacks then watch a movie under the beautiful stars! And the company couldn't be better... How can anyone pass that up?

Honest Folk and Folk Music

... Petrol has gone from US $2.79 per gallon when we set out from Miami to over US $3.00 a gallon and that's all you see on the news; apart from the war etc. Still find it hard to believe that this surreal place is only a 6 hour drive from the Mississippi Delta where there are no rules and every other county sells beer on ice, ready to go, at the gas station! Check out the picture of the sign which was in our motel room, as I said they are god fearing, suspicious folk around these woods.

The trek through Arkansas

... by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. With dozens of artists in the area, galleries and small shops make this a fun destination. There are also a number of hiking areas and outdoor spots to sit and relax. We stopped by the Onyx Cave and cooled off in the caverns and stoppeby by to see the 70 foot Christ of the Ozarks statue.
