    ... hike up memory lane carrying George to the picnic spot.  I think the couple who we exchanged picture-taking with will have stories to tell.  We gave them the full story about George. The short story is "He's not a real dog.  He's just a prop." So continuing on south on I-5 we eventually made it to Redding at about 3 pm and stopped for lunch at Lumberjacks.  Apparently this is a small local chain.  Think sports bar except with a giant ...

    Our drive on Saturday February 28th took us through Sacramento into the Sacramento Valley. It's pretty similar to the San Joaquin Valley we drove through on Friday. It's much greener so I presume they get more rain here!

    ... at Mount Shasta by supper. Finding the KOA we book a campsite for the night and set up camp under the impressive, snow-covered Mount Shasta. We leave Jessica in charge of the fire as Amanda and I make the quick run into town to re-stock the liquor supply. Back to camp we make a gourmet dinner consisting of Mr. Noodles and Hotdogs, with wine of course. We keep feeding the fire and sit under the redwoods, while roasting marshmallows, drinking wine, reflecting on our trip ...
