    ... 160;Interesting to see the way they make the clocks, and also had a display of different cuckoo clocks through the ages.  The front wall of the shop was a giant cuckoo clock with a cuckoo popping out at the top and a revolving wheel of Swiss dancers.  Quite cute.     ... Fredrickson" and the other "Help us, we're poor". He laughed so hard and loved the signs! It was so funny because we stood waiting for 30 minutes with our handwritten signs on notebook paper next to the men in suits with their lamented signs. We had more than a few looks while we were waiting! By the time we arrived in Oviedo, it was 5:30 in the morning on Monday. Typical Oviedo, it was raining which only made me miss Switzerland even more. It was the shortest, but best weekend!

    ... the top of Mt. Pilates was spectacular and made the whole morning worth it. We were practically in the Alps and snow lined the mountain tops. We rode the steepest cog train in Europe down the other side of the mountain and then took a boat ride through the lake to reach Lucerne. We ended our day with a row on the famous lake Rotsee, the location on the rowing World Cup. It's a beautiful venue with crystal clear water. A great day overall! Tomorrow we head to ...

    ... is located about an hour South of Thalwil by train and is very easy to get to. We woke up both Saturday and Sunday morning early (approx. 5:30) and then headed down to the boathouse for breakfast. Switzerland has the most delicious bread. Many HUGE loaves of pumpernickel, white and a challah-like bread are delivered to the boathouse fresh from the bakery every morning. Breakfast consists of bread, pb&j, Nutella, muesli, yogurt, cheese and ...

    ... very wealthy indeed: a valuable farm animal wouldn’t have been killed unless it could truly have been spared. In the dining room, there was also a teensy door that opened to reveal a horseshoe inside the wall. This was meant to ward off the Devil.

    Steffen operated the mill for us so we could see how it worked. It was very noisy but pretty nifty. The end product was spewed from the “bran puker” (real name!) and into a bin.
