... called Melk. The guided tour today was to be of the Benedictine Abbey up on the hill. It was a strikingly pretty yellow color which I thought wasn't typical for an Abbey. Then I found out about the museum they had there, the school that housed 900+ students, and the extensive library, and it made more sense. It was a beautiful place! ... last night we had a seafood buffet, and then a quiz in the lounge. Our cruise director showed us pictures of cities around the world, but it wasn't easy. The top score was only 16 / 30 and our team only scored 10. Then there was dancing and great frivolity in the lounge - and it was all the oldies (75+). A sombre start to the day as we visited Mauthausen, a former concentration camp. We had time to reflect and pay our respects to the victims of the Holocaus.
It was very emotional to witness the site where approx 122,766 and 320,000 lost there life in a horrible way.
