... nothing from Samsun. Back to the hotel, met the group again - then to discover the couple doesn't want dinner. Meh.. So just me, groups leader and old man. Out for kebab dinner, it was ok.

Back to hotel, said to the couple that we want coffee before bed. Couple wanted to come for tea. So we went to little cafe...old man doesn't want, went back to the hotel. Rest of us having coffee/tea and had conversations.Time flew, time to return back to the hotel. We are going to Sinop ...

Turkish words we had learned in our short trip - the words for thank you / How much? / slow / stop / water / Do you speak English? / anice-based alcohol / meatballs / tea / yogurt / etc. It's amazing how fast you can learn when you are forced to. We also thought back over the friendly people we had met, who were so patient with our poor Turkish and accommodating with our hand gestures.

... at the Hotel Nur in Trabzon, centrally located downtown. Trabzon has a large shopping district and it was interesting to see what appealed to the Turks. We were pleasantly surprised with all of the towns we stayed in and each was worth at least a day’s visit. Each hotel we
stayed in was around $80 / night for a double room and each came with TV, A/C, and basic breakfast. They were all adequate.
