Back down at the mid level temple I saw the Buddha I could relate to, I think he was the rotund, happy, money Buddha. At this mid level section there was a large colony of monkeys. While at the centre, the work was delightfully physical. I went on my first harvest (banana trees) only to look at the field absolutely convinced I'd not be able to pick a single one up. I was shown how to get them lifted and balanced on my shoulder and encouraged every time by a big "Rock On, Yeah baby!" ... for my birthday, she had told the owner of where she was staying it was my birthday so when I arrived he got a round in, then his mate visiting from Luxenberg bought one and so it went on, mnever made the meal but had a great night, the unplanned nights are always the best. 17th Nov: Had a lay in to sleep off the gin then out to meet up with Tom Irish guy from Luxenberg and his Thai girlfriend to go for a meal in the next town along the coast. ... our fill of monkeys, we walked back down to the scooters. Everyone else rode the scooters down the steep hills, but I chose to walk back to town, not quite trusting the brakes (or the young, impetuous drivers) to stop us from careening into all the people and traffic at the bottom. Climbing onboard once more, we then rode to a beach new to us, to swim in the beautiful warm waters of the Gulf of Thailand, and wash off the dust from Monkey Mountain.
