... we decided to walk the port city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife where the ship docked. It is also the capital of the island. The city has approximately 220,000 inhabitants and is the center for commerce for the island. We met a nice couple, Cindy and Charles aboard ship and decided to do the town together. After leaving the ship we took a short shuttle bus ride from the ship to the port terminal which is right on the edge of the major shopping areas. A ...

We walked through the monsoon and had a beer in the Bamboo Bar which is a bit of an ...

    Tenerife by Tram

Arrived in Teneriffe at 7am. Still pitch black and raining. However we were ashore and in the city by 9am and the skies brightened into a lovely warm day. After walking round for a while to see the sights we found that there was a tram that took a 45 minute ride up high into the hills. This gave us some great views of both the city, the coast and the mountains behind including in the distance the volcano at Tiede. The other end of the tram line ...
