Hi from the World Champions companion.
Warren has been very sick and has had two days off. Yesterday the men won a silver in the mixed 500's but Wazza was not well enough to compete so we just stayed in the hotel under doctors orders, went to the thermal pools , sat in the salt room, then the steam room then the hot pools. We had a massage and after a sleep did it all over again, the pools that is. It seemed to do the trick as he was ...
The temperature here is very hot and quite draining. Hungarians are lovely people but they haven't discovered yet about the dangers of the sun. They were marshalling the teams an hour before the race and expecting them to stand in 30+ degree heat and got vey upset when the teams kept going to the shade.
It was very well run and went smoothly with the last race being run about 5pm. All in all a good day.

... One of the Canadians recognised me from HK. Whilst we are fierce competitors on the water most paddlers are really friendly and it is a great atmosphere.
Tomorrow it starts, and everything they have worked for is on the line. Unfortunately there are quite a few with the flu including Warren so I have been asking Archangel Raphael to heal them. All you angels out there we could do with some healings please.

... anyhow. No buses. It seems Romania is a no go area. They don't like them at all ( took our land after WW1 ). Everywhere I asked just gave me the cold shoulder and "good luck". However, have worked out I can get a bus to the Hungarian border town about 50km away so will do that and then walk, if need be, to the first town in Romania - Arad.
