The next stop on my travels through Switzerland was Lucerne. I arrived mid morning so spent the rest of the day exploring the beautiful old city. One of the first sites you get to see from of Lucerne, leaving the train station is the chapel bridge, which crosses over the river connecting the older side of town to the newer. ... a row of beautiful buildings, all well kept and interestingly decorated. We went to look at a fountain in a nearby square and then came across a restaurant with awful paintings on the front. Inevitably this is where we ended up eating so the paintings probably work well to attract visitors. ... When we were on top of the mountain you could hear the bells ringing up through the valleys. They take the cows to the alps in the summer and bring them down to the barns in the winter. During our farm visit we tasted the farm produce, cheese, salami, cured beef, Rosti and strudel all apparently home made was so damn delicious.

... just to read and reply to all of the messages, and by that time is the 30 cent soft serve cone, well and truly melted. No one ever tells you that having a social life is such hard work. ;) Packed my bag and I was off with the cousins to the Hallebad, the indoor pool center.
