... directions from a book and once again it was crossing the cow paddock that challenged us. We will be expert status soon - we actually found our way back to the Lighthouse Bar where we met Mick & Karen, friends of Geoff & Shirley, for a few drinks.

And it is 8:30pm, still broad daylight and we are still in short sleeves!

Off to the Cotswolds tomorrow with a night in Chipping Norton before returning to London.

... by this time I am over the rocks and the steepness of the descent only to climb, clamber and rock climb the path - again the views are magnificent. Thank goodness for the 'friends of the track' who in certain parts had laid stones to assist with up and the down - we had finally crossed the Haystacks. At one stage I thought I would kick a stone off the path so that no one slipped on it - that was a bad move - it flew down the hill skipping between the walkers below ...

... take on the journey before heading to the ocean to dip my toe in. I did dip my toe in but it was insulated by my boots! We had our photo taken at the start of the walk and then headed up the track. The scenery is amazing, standing in the cliff tops looking out across the ocean and looking back to St.Bees. ... to shine for us, and on our way back to our room we headed up the hill at the end of our street to get yet another amazing view of the lake. We had only time for a short rest before dinner - the Angel Inn for a pub meal to finish our visit to the Lake District. ... the main street, had the obligatory coffee stop, then headed off to Grasmere, which lived up to its claim of being a very pretty village. We tried in vain to find the start of a recommended walk, but ended up doing our own version. It was still cold, but at least it wasn't raining.
