... which is cheaper than most places in Costa Rica. The lady was a bit pushy with tours so we ignored that chowed down on some more typical local cuisine, rice with black beans, veggies and chicken or beef, good value at 5 bucks each including drink. Went into the village and booked a canopy tour for the next day, then ran back as it started to rain again. It rained here all year round because it was situated in what they call a cloud forest. Due to the elevation, about 1600m, and ...

hours...we watched 4 movies! And got surprisingly little sleep due to
the freezing cold temperature..we were too busy trying to stay warm! We

Costa Rica Day 3

... menu and table service were all excellent. I’d give two thumbs up for this tour if only we were able to see Arenal clearly, least to say that it was covered with clouds, with no signs of volcanic activity. The drive is pretty long, so I would suggest an overnight stay in La Fortuna if you plan on engaging in any activity around the area, so the day won’t end up tiring.

Back on 2 wheels - Nicaragua to Costa Rica

... to the national park reminded me that the road to that beach is very rough - and that our bikes were very heavily loaded - and with my shoulder being weak and sore still - we decided to head to a beach with a paved road access.   We ended up at Playa del Coco, which was OK - several people came up to us as we were setting up camp to warn us to make sure that secure our belongings-  there are a lot of crack addicts in this town they warned.  This ...

... shop we waited around for all the people in our shuttle so that we could go to La Fortuna. We met a couple from New York that were pretty nice, the man even said he had some friends that were originally from Paducah. Finally after the last couple made it to the Green Turtle we were off to La Fortuna. This was one of the scariest rides ever. We passed houses that looked like something off of the Discovery Channel in the poorest places in the ...

... who snored continuosly. First day in La Fortuna, we sampled the local cusine. Amy had a whopper with fries, and i had the Big King burger. We then lazed around the pool for the afternoon. Next day we enquired about hiring a car. Which was going to be a Kia Alto, ****** little 1 litre job, that would barely fit us in but it was cheap. Sunday morning, we picked up the car which amazingly had to be upgraded to a ...

Week 16 - Fortuna (Costa Rica)

... many photos with the guys) we drove to the hot springs. Changing into swimming stuff was done in the car park (quite embarrassing when I nearly fell over with my shorts stuck on my toes). Then a short walk into a misty river and after clambering down a few rocks I was standing in steaming warm water. It was really nice to be in a natural hot spring rather than a man made one. The water flow was so powerful that we could lie down and get pushed downstream. At the end there a was a ...

Torilla hyrräsivät tivolilaitteet ja reunoilla kauppiaat myivät ruokaa ja erinäistä rihkamaa. Tyhjästä varastohallista tehtiin disco ja löytyipä torilta myös karaoke, tuo todistetusti universaalisti tuskaa aiheuttava keksintö. Fiestan pääohjelmanumero oli kuitenkin "härkärodeo ...

... had been on a two-week holiday in Costa Rica, and the original plan had been to meet up with them for Christmas, or maybe New Year's. Delays in shipping the van across the Darien Gap had put paid to those plans, but we were determined to join them for at least the final day or two of their trip. A day's drive up the coast, over the ferry from Puntarenas to Paquera, and then a mad dash across the Nicoya Peninsula had us arriving after dark in Montezuma ...
