One Amazing Day

Last night at the Motel 6 Farmington, NM was dicey and long. I finally fell asleep around 2am...sometime after that barking Chihuahua. I woke at 4:50 feeling cold but afraid to touch the blanket. So I got on the map and figured out where next and how fast we could get on the road. I went into the office to check out and told the lady how dirty the …

... I think the only original building there is the theater. We did some shopping at Wal-Mart there because we both were out of cash. It's 68 degrees, sunny and getting very windy. Our plan is to go to Flagstaff,AZ and start North, but we keep watching the weather for Flagstaff and all points West and North of there and it's low is 32 degrees and rain or snow and strong winds. We crossed the Continental Divide at 2:27 in NM. I missed the pic. No warning for those things. ...

The Indian reservations aren’t really flash. The housing is extremely basic and just plonked wherever they wish. Quite a few of them have tarps weighed down by tyres on their roofs instead of fixing them properly. Sometimes you’ll see a tepee on the property and quite often there’s a Hogan which is a traditional round mud, bark, timber type of structure. The older people like ...

For some reason, I had thought I would spend a good part of a day in Monument Valley, but there is no reason to. I didn't even pay the fee to enter the Indian-run visitor center area. You can see most everything from the highway…

The first town in Utah up this highway is Mexican Hat. Just a ways outside of town, you see why. There is a neat little rock formation that stands on ...

Moab/Blanding/Edge of the Cedars SP Museum/ Blue M

Friday- May 10 We left Dead Horse Point State Park after taking some nice sunset pictures the night before. Headed to Moab to fill up and also stop at the supermarket. Moab is a great little town that is overwhelmed with all the tourists and RV's staying there.

Headed down route 191 to Blanding where we stopped at the Edge of the Cedars State Park Museum in the town. Must stop. This museum is a ...

Super comfortable old style

I wanted to take my kids to a classic, old school motel like I grew up going to. But that can often be pretty dicey these days. Not so at the Prospector., I Pricelined Blanding and this cam up as the highest rated and still at the best price. We drove by and I was concerned. After my Motel 6, Farmington, NM experience, I decided that asking to see the room in advance would be a good idea. It was huge, had everything we needed, super clean and amazing....and gave me a price better than the Priceline.
