... had found Lopes Mendes. However the beach was fairly quiet and we saw the odd hiker just walking on through...it seems we jumped the gun, but it was well worth it! We dried off and got back on the trail, and after a further 30 mins or so we found Lopes Mendes, and much longer and wider version of the previous beach!

Rather than a hike back we decided to jump on a boat back to our port, ...

... part of Brasil's Atlantic rainforest and it holds some of the largest remaining populations of many endangered species including the red-ruffed fruit crow and the brown howler monkey, which I was lucky enough to hear on a sweltering 2 hour trek through the jungle. The trail happily had plenty of opportunities for dips in freshwater pools, between my base of Abraao and a couple of deserted beaches - near to the more popular Lopes Mendes beach - accessible either on foot or by ...

    Farewell Vitoria!

    Our last day in Vitoria!
Rochelle was up and off at 7:00am Heather and I wanted to hit the beach and do a little more shopping before we had to catch our bus at 3:30pm so we checked out and caught a taxi back to the Vitoria Mall. Because we had all of our luggage with us, I sat and guarded the bags while Heather shopped. I really didn't have anything to shop for and it was fun to sit and people watch for a few hours.
It was cloudy but we ...
