Clara an her dad picked me up from the airport that afternoon. They have a beautiful house! The only Brazilian house I've visited so far. (Not counting the favela house) most people in Rio live in apartments. We had rice and this yellow stuff which wasn't bad for dinner. Me and Clara caught up a bit on life and she had to go to bed early for school which starts at ...

... morning, to a very cloudy early afternoon. As soon as I got off the boat I felt the first rain drops of the day. It actually just misted a little bit and didn’t start raining, so it was fine. I came back to the hostel and my other roommates were gone so I had the chance to take a little nap and just rest in the room.

I got up after my little rest and checked my messages in the lobby to see that Gray and Jo ...

After a fluffy morning, trying to enjoy some quality time on the balcony before check out, took the bus to Mariana, a smaller and less intact colonial town. Had some nice old buildings which I explored with Carol, a Londoner I bumped into at tourist info.

The 'resort' of Abraao, basically where the ferries come in, only has 3 streets. I spent the few days I was here lounging around on the beach, snorkelling, trekking in the jungle, drinking caiprinhas and eating scrumscious food at Kebab, a recommendation I'd received from Ioannis and Laure, two friends from London that I'd met in ...

... to head over to Curva da Jurema, just across the park. We had met a nice lady there yesterday. Her name was Marcie and she worked at one of the restuarant/bars on the beach. We went back and had a beer with her and some of her friends before we caught a taxi to the bus depot for our long bus ride back to Muniz Freire.
Vitoria was beautiful but our time here was too short. Perhaps I will return again someday. One never knows!
