Clara an her dad picked me up from the airport that afternoon. They have a beautiful house! The only Brazilian house I've visited so far. (Not counting the favela house) most people in Rio live in apartments. We had rice and this yellow stuff which wasn't bad for dinner. Me and Clara caught up a bit on life and she had to go to bed early for school which starts at ...

Joined the group that had their sight set on visiting a waterfall, only an extra 3kms added on, but were rewarded with seeing some howler monkeys and blue crabs. 20000 steps and a lovely ice cold beer at the end. Out for dinner to excellent pizza joint and walk back to fabulous lodgings nestled in the fringe of the jungle.

... was good, the sun was shining unlike yesterday. We got up early ready for a 2 hour trek to a beach! The island doesn't have any cars so the only way you can get around is by walking. The whole island is set up with walking trails, ranging from a 30 minute walk to 12 hours. One person walked the whole of the island in 8 days! The trek to Lopes Mendez beach was very hilly, walking up boulders and fallen over trees in the forest. It was really fun though but we ...

... taxi (basically a wooden speedboat!) Depending on the season, you can even see southern right whales and penguins here alongside coral and tropical fish. The 'resort' of Abraao, basically where the ferries come in, only has 3 streets. I spent the few days I was here lounging around on the beach, snorkelling, trekking in the jungle, drinking caiprinhas and eating scrumscious food at Kebab, a recommendation I'd received from Ioannis and Laure, two friends from London that I'd met in ...
