... to get the right boat she needed to get off at the second ferry stop, not the first like my hostel. Just like that my van transfer friend was gone and I was back to rolling solo. When we were in Rio an Equadorian guy that we met called José first tipped us off about Ilha Grande. This wasn´t part of the plan before we came to Brazil, but when we read up on it it did sound pretty spectacular. Plus, it would be easier and cheaper to get to than to head down to Florianopolis and Campeche, so we decided to re-route. Would it all prove too good to be true?

... 16.5kms round trip which took us about 4 hours. However, this one was actually the easiest as the surface was smoother. My favourite trek was the hour and a half one to see the waterfalls and then another half hour descent onto a secluded beach paradise where we sipped on coconuts and floated in the most beautiful ocean water I've ever experienced. As if we hadn't been spoiled enough by Brazilian beaches, our next stop was Ilha Grande, an island paradise set off the coast of Rio. A short 2 hour bus and 1 hour boat ride from Paraty, it was a breeze to get to.
