Having enjoyed our time in the north of Brazil, we decided it was time to head south, to Paraty. This involved an epic 19 hour journey of boat, bus, taxi, plane, taxi, bus and taxi. We left Morro at 6am and arrived in Paraty at 1.30am the next day exhausted but glad to be there.

Arrived to Paraty (Para-chi) at 4am, tired and with no idea where to go. The bus from Sao Paulo was horrendous as the driver thought he was in a Formula 1 race and the bus was knackered. Sleep just wasn't happening.
The place was deserted so rather than wander about with no clue where to go with our bags, we decided to get a taxi to the hostel. It seems we woke up the owner who didn’t speak a word of English and wasn’t very helpful. ...

Apparently, the less you pay for a bus ride around these parts the faster they drive! We felt like we spent 6 hours in a washing machine holding on for dear life. The only thing that stopped us from having a quiet word in the driver's ear was admiring the absolutely amazing scenery between Sao Paolo and Paraty.
