      ... beach on the Atlantic. We lucked into sunshine and warm fall air. We spent the afternoon and evening in Santillana del Mar, an authentic medieval town with winding cobblestones and half-timbered buildings. Our hotel was a stone-walled collection of slanted floors, odd furniture and creepy old paintings, right out of a movie set.

      ... Navarette about 8km from Logrono. By 9 we were only on outskirts, through that big park area and the sun was setting. We were heading into countryside but it was really too late to walk further. A lovely Spanish lady out walking her dog rang a taxi for us. Arrived in hostel El Cantaro 9.30.
