At 5:30 like zombies we moved down to the entrance to board the van for the tour. Luis form Phantom Divers was ready for us, some of us tried to sleep during the transfer from Playa del Carmen to Cancun but I guess few manage to do it.

We arrived at Dreams Delphinus a property that is been demolished but that still has at the beach a small hut and pier from where Solo Buceo operates. There we met our 2 guides and the captain of the assigned boat.

We were too far for any of my pictures to turn out, but it was pretty cool (especially since I was the one that spotted them by accident). At the second dive site, the current was so strong I didn't need to move. I was able to cross my legs and let nature do all the work. Oh, says she, 'there is a zoo, just down the road, it has lots of birds'. Oh this is PERFECT we think, been busting to see some of the beautiful Mexican birds. So we head out to have a spot of lunch at VIPs which is about a minute walk, also a recommendation for the concierge. The best way to describe VIPs is like a Mexican Denny's. ...

... boat for a few hours out too sea to find the Whale Shark. Putting my snorkelling gear on, quite nervous at this point but very excited, then jumping on in to the deepest, darkest part of the ocean. These huge whale sharks (the size of a coach) were absolutely amazing! They casually swim past you with their huge oval mouths open, a sight I will never forget and at one point getting sandwiched between two of them and trying to avoid their huge tails as they swooshed past! ...

... back to the Zocalo, yours truly the guide en route. Had a break at the main Sanborn's, eating in the diner area, very reminiscent of Route 66. Will probably go back to Teotihuacan tomorrow.

To the Zocalo and a stop inside the Cathedral. The place was alot busier, including more local Indian dancers in colourful costumes. Realized the Mexican flag was at half mast re the Pemex
