Luckily there were trains heading back every 10-15 minutes (I had checked on this when I first arrived in Padua - didn't want to get stuck waiting for a train for over an hour again) and I was back to the island by 6pm. I decided since it was early, my vaporetto pass was still valid, and the tourists were mostly thinning out, that it might be a good time to ride the vaporetto for a bit along the Grand Canal. Ben said I just sat there for a few seconds. I was collecting myself and refusing to cry about it, I had to laugh. Rome - Venice

... were lifted. The whole apartment was refinished which was a relief after our long train ride from Rome. The next day we took a walk to the San Marco square and the gondolas. The gondolas were a nice way to ease into the Venetian culture and learn about the city and it's history. We had a nice dinner at one of the local diners we found along the sea. The next morning we walked over to a campo where we hoped to find ...
