She only had a couple of falls, usually due to a traffic jam on the rope lift when one of the kids had fallen over. We determined that in the afternoon we would try to reinforce the snow plough. Oops, no notes again! Refuge Elena quite new and modern. Large dorms but partitioned into bunks of 4. Located on a high ridge overlooking the valley, where we had a long break and arvo tea. Met some interesting groups of Italians, see the funny hats. It seems that all of Italy has these 2 weeks off, so the trails and refuges are full. Dinner in a lovely dining room, food pasta as usual. ...
The weather forecast for today was that it would be fine this morning and wet this afternoon, evening and night, so the plan was to get up earlyish and head down into Chamonix, by bus or train before the rain started. Well, this didn't happen! By the time we got up, showered and mooched about it was 12pm, and I wandered down to use the wifi outside reception, with my famous last words to Lyn of "don’t forget the waterproofs!" You can guess what happened next!
